36 Weeks Pregnant
Development at 36 Weeks
By week 36, many babies are settling into the pelvis (a process called engagement or lightening). The lungs are mature in most cases. The baby typically weighs around 6 pounds (approximately 2.7 kg) around this time. Group B Strep testing may be offered around this week if not already done. The fetus is roughly the size of a head of romaine.

Common Experiences at 36 Weeks
Week 36 brings many people close to their due date. Some people notice their breathing may ease slightly if the baby has moved lower (lightening). Pelvic pressure and frequent urination often increase. Many people feel a mix of anticipation and physical readiness. Movement should remain regular — discuss any changes with your provider.
Experiences vary widely between individuals. If you have concerns about any symptom, contact your healthcare provider.
