5 Weeks Pregnant
Development at 5 Weeks
Around week 5, the neural tube — which typically develops into the brain and spinal cord — is forming. The primitive heart is also beginning to develop and may start beating by the end of this week. The embryo is still very small, about the size of a sesame seed, and major structures are in very early stages.
