Development at 24 Weeks
Week 24 is often considered a significant milestone in pregnancy, as survival outside the womb with intensive medical care becomes possible around this gestational age. Eyelids can open. A glucose screening test is commonly offered around weeks 24–28. The fetus is roughly the size of an ear of corn. Brain development continues rapidly.

Around week 24, many people have the glucose screening test if recommended by their provider. Some people experience shortness of breath as the uterus grows. Swelling in the feet and ankles is very commonly reported. Movement is often strong enough to feel from the outside. Many find this an exciting developmental milestone.
